Adoptive parents, Marshall and Christie

Dear Birthmother,

Hello again! We are MARSHALL & CHRISTIE. We’ve been married 16 years and continue to give each other the support needed to accomplish all of our goals in life. Due to infertility, we pursed an adoption plan leading to the adoption of our son, Allen. We would like to continue our journey of building our family through more adoptions. Marshall is an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher who works with special needs children. He is also a High School football and baseball coach. He enjoys his job, which is less than one mile from home. Christie was an elementary teacher for 12 years until becoming a Principal. Doing what is best for children as well as being parents are one of life’s most rewarding tasks for us! Some of our family interests include traveling, entertaining guests, and attending sporting events. Marshall loves baseball, golf, & relaxing with a western or history movie. Christie is a very creative decorator, musician, cook, & photographer.

About Our Families

Together we have extended families who provide support in our desire to adopt. Christie has one brother, two sisters, seven nieces and nephews and several cousins that all live close by. There are eight sets of twins in her family, including her mother as a twin! Marshall has one sister, one brother, one step-brother (adopted) and five nephews (one adopted) and one niece. Because Marshall’s family lives farther away, we spend summer months or holidays with them to visit. We are truly a family built on traditions as we hope to create new family memories.

About Allen

Allen entered our lives at two months old. For the first two years, he stayed home with Christie and enjoyed playgroups with other kids. Because our schools are one of the top in the state, he attends the preschool at Christie’s school which allows for her to peak on him. We have set up a college fund and savings account for him, as we want our children to understand the importance of education & finances to a secure future. Allen has always enjoyed being outdoors since the days we visited him with his foster family. We used to sit outdoors and rock him to sleep each evening as we awaited our day to bring him home. He enjoys hunting for bugs, swimming, and is very interested in reading books. We know that he will make the BEST brother for any sibling!

Our Home and Community

Our home is a simple four bedroom home with plenty of room to ride bikes, run around in the large yard, or just relax. There are children in our friendly and family-oriented neighborhood riding bikes or skateboards with pets following behind them. It is not uncommon to see a campfire built as well as children in our driveway shooting basketballs. Our pool is filled with neighborhood families enjoying each other’s company. We are located in a rural area outside of the city limits, but easy access to fun. Our city is close to Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Our Church and Dog

We practice our faith within the Catholic church. Each time we attend church; we light a candle in thanksgiving for Allen’s birthparents & birthparents everywhere. Prayer at night is also an important part of our rituals before we go to sleep.

Allen's godparents surprised him on his fifth birthday with a new puppy named Elvis. Elvis is a Cajun Squirrel dog. He follows Allen around just like a puppy should. He also is learning to fetch the ball and catch the frisbee. Allen adores his licks and tail wags!
